
The last time that I met you in Brookn Brooklyn . I was speaking to you in regard. to my appointment for Sailmaker in U.S. Navy.
And you told me to write to you in washington. and state to you how the thing was.
In 1862. i was recommended by Moses H. Grinnell of. N.Y. to the Navy Department. was examined and passed the Board. for Master Sail Maker. and i remain on the li [illegible] to be appointed for Sec of the Navy's office ever since.
as you are in washington i will ask of you a favour of looking after it for me. and
see what you can do towards getting it for me
For it has been the
height of my ambition. to get the position And by getting it. Will put me out of
misery. and my mind content any further information Any of the clerks in the Sec of
Navy office will give you .. I have
writenwritten to the Department severl several
times in regard to it. no use it wants to be backed up by Some body
besides me
hopeing hoping that you will grant me the favour i ask and that you may suceed succeed
