  Dear Mr, Whitman.

Your letter with money order came to hand Friday last, for which I return thanks. Your friends are pleased to learn that you are improving in health and possibly be with them soon. I passed a very pleasant day up the River Saturday—fishing—the day proved to be warm and after several attempts to catch fish we gave it up in despair and partook ourselves to the 'grove.' I hope you passed the day pleasantly. I have been quite busy and I cease to work   for some moments to write and acknowledge receipt of yours of the 28th. I close by sending love and best wishes

Your Friend Walter Godey.
